THE women of Whitburn have bared all at a charity fund-raiser.
About 20 ladies from the village got together to strip for a calendar in aid of armed forces charity Help For Heroes, which provides support for injured service personnel.
After months of planning, the racy results were revealed at a charity bash at the Grey Horse pub in Mill Lane.
The group was inspired by the film Calendar Girls, about members of a Yorkshire Women’s Institute who strip off to raise cash for their group.
One of the organisers of Whitburn’s version, Joanne Atherton, is delighted that their plans are finally being realised.
The 38-year-old said: “The calendar is finished, but no-one saw it until we got to the pub.
“They went on sale on Saturday and will be in shops around the village. We hope everyone enjoys it.”
They idea for the calendar came about when the women were talking about what they could do to rival the Whitburn men’s annual golf day, which also raises money for Help for Heroes.
