VOLUNTEERS from across the North East are being invited to take part in the final London 2012 celebrations.
The Bandstand Marathon will see bandstands across the country, including those in Sunderland and Durham, brought to life with the sound of music simultaneously.
The event marks the end of the London 2012 Festival on the final day of the Paralympics on September 9, with bands and choirs performing between 1pm and 5pm.
Ruth Mackenzie, director of the festival, said: “Bandstand Marathon is encouraging music groups to showcase their talents and be part of the London 2012 Festival.
“I am proud we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to boost participation in creating a cultural legacy.”
