A poplar Sunderland store is on the move – although not very far.

B&M has announced it will be relocating its outlet on Pallion Retail Park to a much bigger space – just two doors down.

We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new and improved store.

The move is a response to customer demand for a bigger shop and more products.

The firm employ 40 people at Pallion, but the bigger space will see an additional six employees taken on.

The discount retailer employs more than 750 people at the moment in the Tyne and Wear area.

The current store will close on Sunday, February 25, and the former Matalan outlet nearby will undergo a comprehensive internal and external makeover, before opening its doors at 9am on Thursday, March 2.

Store manager Andrew Martin said his team were looking forward to moving into their new home.

“We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new and improved store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our customers through the door in a few weeks.”

The new jobs range from sales assistants to floor managers and cleaners, with a mixture of permanent and temporary full and part-time positions available.
