AN attacker who fractured a man’s cheekbone in a kicking assault outside a city bar has been jailed.

Christopher McGow pounced on Michael Boyes outside Brogans, Crowtree Road, in November 2010.

The 22-year-old skipped bail twice while waiting for the case to get to court and went to work outside the area.

But justice finally caught up with him yesterday and he was put behind bars for 17 months.

Newcastle Crown Court had been shown CCTV footage of the attack.

In the footage, McGow and an unknown male can be seen kicking the victim as he lay on the ground.

McGow, of Petersham Road, Ford Estate, had also slapped Mr Boyes’ girlfriend.

He pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and common assault.
