A PUB boss says he has no idea why damage costing hundreds of pounds was done over the weekend.

Gary Robins said he could think of no reason why anyone would want to smash the windows of the Railway Tavern, in Hylton Road.

Vandals struck at the Millfield boozer sometime after closing on Saturday night.

Gary, 25, had been out into town after work and discovered the damage on his return.

“I found it coming home from town about half five in the morning – all the windows had been smashed,” he said.

“I’ve got no idea why – there was no trouble in the bar on Saturday night and we have not barred anyone recently.

“It’s going to cost about £700 to repair the damage.”
