A POP fest is hitting audiences for six at Durham County Cricket Club this weekend.

Atomic Kitten, Blue and Five entertained the crowds last night as they opened the two-day Summer Nights Live event at the 15,000-capacity cricket ground in Chester-le-Street.

The bands, who have had dozens of top 10 hits between them, are enjoying a resurgence in their careers after appearing on ITV2’s Big Reunion show.

Tonight it’s the turn of Jessie J to step into the spotlight.

The Voice coach and pop star has sold more than 12million records worldwide and has scored six top 10 hits from one album including Do It Like a Dude, Price Tag, Domino, Laserlight and Who You Are.

She’ll be supported by A*M*E, Charlie Brown and Ollie Marland.

Durham County Cricket Club chief executive, David Harker, said: “Securing these great acts is fantastic news for the cricket ground, as it builds on its growing reputation as a prestigious open air concert venue.”

* Tickets for Jessie J are £32 from www.durhamccc.co.uk or in person at the cricket club. See Monday’s Echo for highlights of tonight’s gig.
