A team of anglers were rescued from the North Sea, today, after the boat they were in suffered a mechanical failure.

The 10 metres long angling vessel lost power half a mile off Roker Pier in Sunderland, at about 3pm, leaving its crew of 11 stranded.

The boat was towed to safety by the RNLI after the Coastguard was alerted.
