PEOPLE who want to work in care are being offered free advice to help them get on in their career.

Sunderland College is running a course specifically for those who want to find work in the caring industry.

The programme, which will start on Thursday, will be the last of this academic year.

It will run two days a week for six weeks, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, at the college’s Hylton Centre in North Hylton Road.

Paul Stafford, employer liaison manager at Sunderland College, said it will help those who are looking to work in the industry with their employability skills.

“This course will help people develop essential skills necessary to work effectively in a variety of care settings,” he said.

“Learners won’t just achieve a qualification, we want them to succeed in their career goals.

“Thus, the course includes a guaranteed interview with a local care employer.” The college’s pre-employment team is designed to help students and so is made up of industry professionals.

Paul, who works in employer and employability provision, added: “All the team can pass on their many years of experience.

“The course is developed to give you skills that employers are looking for.”
