STRICTLY Come Dancing star Rachel Riley got a warm welcome as she visited Sunderland to promote the importance of heating this winter.
The TV presenter, who has co-hosted more than 1,000 episodes of Countdown on Channel 4 and also appears on Channel 5’s The Gadget Show, was in Market Square to promote npower’s Acts of Warmness Campaign.
The awareness drive which comes during Energy Saving Week has seen Rachel visiting cities around the country with npower’s mobile snug, which offers advice and warming treats to passers-by.
And Rachel, 28, was only too happy to chat to Wearsiders who called in for a hot cup of tea during the lunch-time rush yesterday.
“It’s my first time in Sunderland,” she told the Echo. “It’s very, very sunny, but it’s a little bit cold. Everyone’s very friendly and they are enjoying the warmth and the cups of tea in here as well.”
npower is set to spend £65million this winter, helping those who need help to stay warm. Call 08000 22220 for information.
