CROONER and chat show host Des O’Connor will be entertaining Mackem audiences next week.
The showbiz legend will be live on stage for an evening of comedy, music and entertainment at Rainton Meadows Arena, in Houghton, on Thursday.
Rising to prominence in the 1960s as a singer – and frequently the butt of Morecambe and Wise jokes – Des had his own chat show for 25 years on both the BBC and ITV.
In 2001, he was presented with the Special Recognition Award at The National Television Awards for his contribution to TV.
The 80-year-old, who was born in east London, has also had a successful singing career spanning five decades.
The entertainer also had a two-year stint on Channel 4’s Countdown from 2007.
Tickets cost £34.95. The entertainment starts at 6.45pm.
