Two Vietnamese teenagers have been committed for trial after a huge cannabis farm was discovered at a house in Sunderland.
A 14-year-old boy and his 15-year-old sister, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are alleged to have been involved in the production of 627 cannabis plants on September 1.

Sunderland police officers targeted the house at The Royalty, off Chester Road, where they found drugs worth about £300,000.

Officers from Sunderland Central Neighbourhood Policing Team also discovered sophisticated lighting equipment used to cultivate cannabis in three rooms of the house.

The accused pair, both of no fixed address, appeared before Sunderland magistrates yesterday when they were committed for trial at Newcastle Crown Court on November 18.

Their solicitor, Tony Southwick, made no application for bail and they were remanded in custody.
