Sunderland Empire has announced the star cast set to raise the roof when We Will Rock You rolls into the city.
Actor and musician Jonathan Wilkes and former Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy have been revealed as leads in the smash-hit musical based around Queen's biggest hits.

The theatre is one of only a handful across the country chosen to host the m
usical as it embarks on its first UK tour.

Jonathan and Kevin, who played Curly Watts in the ITV soap, will take to the Sunderland stage alongside X Factor finalist Brenda Edwards, star of ITV1's Britannia High, Georgina Hagen, and I'd Do Anything's Nancy contestant Ashley Russell.

Speaking about the tour, Jonathan Wilkes said: "I am chuffed to be part of this show and very excited to be working with such a fantastic company."

Kevin Kennedy added: "I have seen the show every time I have been down to London never dreaming that one day I would be in it."

We Will Rock You, which was penned by comedian Ben Elton, has been rocking audiences in London's West End since it opened six years ago.

It will be at the Sunderland Empire from Tuesday, June 9, to Saturday June 27.

Ticket prices range from £12.50 to £37.50, and are available from the 24-Hour Box Office on 0844 847 2499 and SunderlandEmpire.org.uk
