Northumbria Police is one of the country's leading forces for busting crime.
The new Police Report Card, published today by the Government, rates the force as top of its game in most areas.
The review said its unrivalled track record in driving down crime over the last 15 years led to an excellent mark for cutting and solv
ing offences.
Public confidence also received a good-to-excellent mark on the report card, and the force was rated excellent for work in tackling gun and knife crime.
However, value for money was flagged up as a problem.
The number of officers and community support officers on the beat was rated medium to high.
"The results for Northumbria yet again demonstrate we are one of the top performing forces in the country," said Chief Constable Mike Craik.
"We have achieved consistent reductions in crime year-on-year, combined with improvements in detection rates and public confidence.
"Our emphasis on providing consistently high standards of service, responsive to the needs of our communities is a winning formula.
"This success is due to the commitment and dedication of all our officers and staff and the support of our partners and the public.
"However, we are never complacent and are always looking to drive our service forward. That is one of the key reasons for our success."
