Man's skull broken in Sunderland park attack

Three people have been arrested after a man was left with a suspected fractured skull after a park attack.

The assault took place in Thompson Park, Southwick, at about 10.25pm on Wednesday.

The victim remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital today.
A member of the public called police to report the fight involving a group of men.

Officers attended the scene and found a 34-year-old man with head injuries.

Detective today said they had questioned three people in relation to the assault and they have all now been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Yesterday, officers were seen searching a cordoned off area of the play park.

A police spokesman said: "We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident."
