Man hurt in brawl

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a fight outside a Jarrow pub.
The 25-year-old suffered serious head injuries when a brawl broke out next to the Golden Lion, in Walter Street.

He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital, where his condition is said to be serious.

It is believed the man, who worked in Sunderland for a number of years, had been drinking inside the pub before the incident, at 10.30pm on Friday.

The victim is described as 6ft 5in, with a heavy build, dark hair and facial hair.
