Mackem mover Stephen Turner is quickly making a name for himself after his starring role in the Black Cats' derby win.

The 45-year-old was captured performing a robotic dance on Sky Sports cameras during half time of the historic game in October.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp coined the phrase the "Mackem Mover" and ever since Stephen's fame has risen – with thousands of hits on Youtube and an invite to the popular Sky Sports 1 SoccerAM show today.

Stephen, is from Stanley in North West Durham, but has been a Sunderland fan since he was about nine.

He said: "It will be a good laugh, I'm looking forward to it."
Stephen nearly did not get tickets for the derby game, but managed to wangle them at the last minute for him and his 12-year-old daughter Vanessa.

He started dancing during half time after deciding to give a group of dancers who were performing on the pitch a run for their money, but he had no idea he had been caught on camera.

It was only when Stephen got out of the stadium and looked at his phone that he saw he had more than 20 missed calls and texts.

Coincidentally, he had also been filmed by Sky Sports before the match to give his prediction of the scoreline.

Stephen, a one-time disco DJ who now works in a warehouse which provides equipment for caravans, started teaching himself to dance when he was about 17 after being inspired by a variety act called Tick and Tock and popstar Jeffrey Daniel from Shalamar.

He said: "I have never done it to make money, it's just when I go out all my mates get me to dance."

Stephen who is married to Glynis and also has a son Scott, 13, travelled to the Soccer Am studios in Isleworth, Middlesex, yesterday and was due to appear on the show this morning.
