Plans for a star-studded music event this weekend with top band Girls Aloud have had to be abandoned because of the weather conditions.
Organisers have today called off Beamish Summer Festival at Beamish Hall Country House Hotel because the grounds where the 60 feet outdoor stage was to be erected are under water.

The two day event, which was to feature Girls Aloud on Sunday August 24 and a whole host of leading tribute bands on Monday August 25, can no longer go ahead, although all ticket money will be fully refunded.
