A GLITZY winter ball is being held to raise funds for an appeal in memory of a former Sunderland AFC player.
The event, in aid of the Tim Carter Hydrotherapy Appeal, is taking place on Saturday.
The campaign aims to build a new regional hydrotherapy centre to give disabled children the best start in life.
The event, at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead,
will be hosted by broadcaster Wendy Gibson and Willie Thorne, and singer songwriter Jamie Squire and Andy Abraham of X Factor fame will be entertaining the guests.
The appeal is named after ex-SAFC goalkeeper and coach Tim Carter, who died last year. His son attends the Percy Hedley School in North Tyneside.
The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional disability charities in the UK providing specialist services for children and adults with cerebral palsy, sensory and communication impairments and other complex needs.
It is also developing new services for people with acquired neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and strokes.
The charity aims to promote the rights, needs and aspirations of disabled people through specialist, quality services.
It helps more than 1,000 people from the North East and beyond each year.
