Budding film stars in Sunderland are being urged to audition for a new movie about Middle Eastern refugees.
The film, a coming-of-age story which follows the journey of refugee brother and sister Nasreen and Ali from Iran to Wearside, will feature local talent and a casting to be held in Sunderland tomorrow.
The producers are looking for "interesting
looking local characters" as well as people of Middle Eastern, African and Eastern European origin to play refugees. They are also looking for someone to play the part of the teenagers' mother, a main role in the film.
Actors should be in their 40s and look "Middle Eastern".
Theresa Stinson, from the production team, said she could not reveal too many details, but that an award-winning director was signed up to make the movie.
"There will be scouts around the area over the coming weeks looking for suitable faces to be in the film. If they are genuine they will give you a card," she said.
"The film is being made with a lot of goodwill and very little budget, so there is no payment but just a great experience to be had."
Casting is at The North East Refugee Service, 19 Villiers Street, Sunderland, on Saturday between 11am and 3pm.
