Leave your tribute to BrentHe and two others, William Hughes, 21, of Washington Road, Sunderland, and a 16-year-old, who cannot be identified, are awaiting sentencing.
Brent, who had learning difficulties, was beaten to death in a sustained and brutal attack in Town End Farm in August last year. He died in hospital two days later.
His killing shocked Wearside and touched hundreds around the world, with campaigners in several countries wearing black armbands in his memory. They also protested against the abuse of people with learning difficulties.
Brent's mum, Brenda, 62, of Watford Close, Witherwack, said she had received hundreds of letters, cards and phone calls from friends and strangers and the messages of condolence had meant a lot to the family.
"It just shows there are people out there who do care and it's very nice of them," she said.
Echo readers around the world, and even those who had never previously heard of Sunderland, have been visiting the paper's website to leave their messages for Brent.
