A THIRD man has been arrested after a five-year-old boy was hurt in a hit-and-run smash.

Carl Fenwick was riding his bike when he was hit by a motorcyclist who made off from the scene, at the junction of Gillas Lane and Hall Lane in Houghton.

The youngster, from Burns Avenue South, Houghton, was left with cuts to his skull and broke his left leg and left arm in the incident on Monday, August 11.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital. Doctors say he may have to use a wheelchair while his bones heal.

A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old were arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after an accident and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Now an 18-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, and released on bail.
