£8,000-worth of tools stolen from vans

More than £8,000-worth of builders' tools have been stolen from vans in just two months.
The shocking figure has been released by police as a wake-up call to workers to rethink their vehicle security after most thefts were from vans where alarms had not been fitted or not being used.
Police also revealed thieves have caused more than £1,500-worth of damage as they smash windows and locks to get to the goods.
The incidents have taken palce in Cleadon, Whitburn and the Boldons.
Since August a total of £8,177-worth of property has been stolen, including saws, drills, transformers, sat navs, mobile phones and copper piping.
