A RARE signed Sunderland shirt featuring former stars dating back more than half a century is to go under the hammer.
The framed 1960s replica top has been signed by some of the club’s greatest players.
They include 1950s defender Len Ashurst, 1973 FA Cup final hero Jimmy Montgomery and goalscoring legend Gary Rowell.
Others include Gordon Armstrong and Gary Bennett, and post-war players such as John McSeveney, Winston Young and Cecil Irwin.
Money raised from the auction will be donated to the Five Helping Hands group, which runs a range of community projects in Seaham.
The fund-raiser is the brainchild of superfan Gary “Sunderland AFC” Lamb, 52, who spent months collecting the signatures.
“This really is a spectacular item,” he said. “It has been signed by some of the greatest players ever to play at Roker Park.
“But what makes this shirt so unique is the fact that within the mount of the frame are pictures of every one of the players actually signing the shirt.
Lorry driver Gary, who changed his middle name by deed poll to show his support for the Black Cats, hopes the sale will generate interest.
The dad-of-five, from Seaham, said: “It has 38 signatures on it and has only be signed by players who actually played for the lads at Roker Park, ranging from the 1950s onwards.
