Cameras are set to roll in East Durham after plans to bring a movie studio to the area were approved.
District of Easington Council has given the go-ahead to proposals to built the complex on land on farmland at Dawdon, which could potentially create more than 2,400 new jobs.

The park, off the A182 near the Fox Cover Industrial Estate, is expected to attract film and video makers, television productions, commercials, editing facilities for music and sound and DVD duplication.

It is also likely to have links with Sunderland University and East Durham and Houghall College, with student accommodation featured in the plan, along with a 150-bed hotel, parklands and leisure areas.

An initial £192million is to be invested into the Centre of Creative Excellence, with an expected overall investment of £300m.
