NEW buses will be running on Wearside following a £2.5million investment.
Deliveries of the 21 vehicles to Arriva North East started earlier this month and will continue into the new year.
Arriva says the new fleet will have a “huge impact on the quality of service and offers real benefits for young families and wheelchair users”.
The new buses will mainly operate between Sunderland, Durham and Peterlee as well as parts of County Durham.
The buses are environmentally friendly and have low-emission engines.
They also have new ticket machines, as well as CCTV cameras.
Nigel Featham, managing director of Arriva North East, said: “The new vehicles can accommodate buggies, helping busy families get around easier.”
