12 charged after drugs operation

Twelve people have appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court charged with drugs offences after a police operation.
Graeme Spooner, 30, of Barwick Street, Easington Colliery, was charged with five offences of being concerned in the supply of heroin.

Terry Martin, 36, of Oakerside Drive, has been charged with seven offences of being concerned in the supply of he
roin. Nicky Bower, 27, of Cleveland Place, also Peterlee, is charged with one offence of supplying heroin and one of possession of heroin.

All others are from Easington Colliery. Victoria Stewart, 31, of Barwick Street, was charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin on two occasions. John Owens, 27, of Raby Avenue, is charged with supplying heroin on three occasions and John Pye, 27, of Thorpe Street, is charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin on three occasions, supplying amphetamine on two dates and a single charge of offering to supply amphetamine.

Lynne Williams, 29, faces five charges of being concerned in the supply of heroin and four of supplying heroin. David Jones, 25, is charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin on four occasions and one charge of supplying heroin. Lee Hocking, 22, of all of Hawthorn Street, charged with offering to supply heroin and two of supplying two wraps of diamorphine. All three are of Hawthorn Street.

Darren Malcolm, 27, is charged with one offence of being concerned in the supply of heroin. Neale Fenwick, 26, faces three allegations of being concerned in the supply of heroin. Allen Hardy, 26, is charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of heroin. All three are of Station Road.

At yesterday's hearing, Spooner was remanded in custody until Thursday. The other 11 defendants were released on conditional bail and will return to the court on September 24.
