JOIN a great day out for all the family this weekend.
A fun day for kids and parents takes place on Saturday, in the Roberts Lounge of West Boldon Community Centre.
There is a chance to find out more about the work Durham Wildlife Trust is doing in West Boldon to improve the River Don for wildlife and discover the Bede’s Way Walk that links the historic sites of Wearmouth-Jarrow, the UK’s nomination for World Heritage Status in 2012.
Free activities include face painting, stone carving, willow weaving, crafts and games and a guided walk.
Michael Rogers, Living Waterways project officer, said: “This is a great chance for residents to find out more about the fantastic wildlife on their doorstep and to learn about the history of the Bede’s Way Walk while the kids enjoy all the fun activities we’re running.”
Admission is free to the event, which takes place between 10am and 3pm.
