PLUCKED from the classroom and a nine-to-five job, Michael Stubbs, 16, and Danielle Hope, 23, are the Echo’s Face of 2011 winners.
High Barnes teenager Michael is studying for his A-levels at St Aidan’s, and is following in the footsteps of our first male winner from 2009, Aiden Brook, who was also a pupil at the school.
“I can’t believe I have won,” said Michael.
“It’s something I have always wanted to do, and now I can really pursue modelling alongside studying for my A-levels.”
They both wowed the judges in the final of our annual competition.
Danielle was put forward by her mum.
“Everyone in the final was gorgeous, so I was really shocked when I got the call to say I had won.”
The stunning pair will now join Glamrus Model Agency for the next 12 months, and have scooped a place in the final of Miss Sunderland and Mr North East.
They are both very excited about what will happen next.
Michael said: “I really enjoyed being on the catwalk in front of the judges and I cant wait to do more.
“It was a great experience and I would do it again if I could.”
Danielle agreed and added: “I was really nervous because I was first to go in front of the panel, but it was great and even just getting to the final was a great achievement for me.
“It has all been a real confidence boost, and I’m so glad my mam entered me into the competition.”
