Some services have been amended to start or terminate short of the affected area, while journey times between these stations will also be extended by at least 60 minutes.

Buses are running between Morpeth and Alnmouth.

The problem has had a knock-on effect, with other trains from Newcastle, particularly to London Kings Cross, suffering delays and, in some cases, cancellations.
