ASPIRING young actors have the chance to step into the spotlight at the Sunderland Empire.

Sunderland Amateur Operatic Society is holding auditions for 12- to 14-year-old boys to come and try out for the role of Nathan in its production of The Full Monty.

Peter Oliver, the production secretary for the society, said: “It’s a really great role for a young man looking to get experience in the acting industry. Nathan is the son of the main character Gerry and during the play there are some really lovely scenes between the two of them.

“To get the part you will need to be quite outgoing, but it is only speaking so no singing will be involved. Anybody is welcome to come and have a go.”

Auditions are being held tomorrow at 7.15pm at St George’s Church, in Ashbrooke.

Tickets are on sale for the show, which is taking place at the Empire from January 24 to 28 2012.
