PEOPLE in the North East are biggest pub goers in the UK, according to a new survey.

However, 48 per cent in the region are unhappy with their social lives, claimed the study for new social networking website Badoo.

The festive holiday period may not improve things.

Of those from the North East who responded to the survey, 42 per cent revealed that they will not be having a Christmas party this year.

Also, 79 per cent have not yet made plans for how to celebrate New Year’s Eve and 52 per cent said they expect to stay in on the night.

The poll of 2,000 UK adults aimed to give an insight into the “average” Brit’s social life in 2011.

In the North East, the most popular pastime was visiting restaurants which took 39 per cent of the votes, followed by the cinema (13 per cent); theatre (six per cent); sporting events (three per cent); and nightclubs (three per cent).
