A MUSIC club has been given a boost to the tune of £5,000.
Seaham Music Academy has been given the cash to continue its work by the Coalfield Regeneration Trust.
The money will be used to cover the cost of sessional musicians, who lead the lessons for people of all ages each Saturday at Seaview Primary School.
Once musicians have mastered the basics of their instruments, they join in one of the ensemble groups which gather after the lessons.
Jim Bagley, who helps lead the club, said: “Membership has grown steadily over recent years to over 140 members.
“However, since the aim of the Academy is to give local people the chance to learn how to play musical instruments then there is always room for more learners.”
