HARDY Rihanna fans queued through the night to secure their place at the pop superstar’s Sunderland gig.

Tickets for the June 20 show went on sale at 9am today, with some eager fans having been in line for almost 24 hours.

Vicky Horsley, 31, from Fence Houses and Angela Gardiner, 34, from Monkwearmouth, arrived at the Stadium of Light at 10am yesterday.

“We had to make sure we got a ticket,” said support worker Vicky, who had just finished her night shift.

“We thought the queue would be miles long, so we thought the earlier we got here, the more chance we had of getting a ticket.”

Club bosses allowed shivering fans to take shelter in the stadium’s concourse, but it was still a cold night with temperatures as low as 8°C.

Tickets are also on sale via 0844 844 0444 or www.livenation.org, subject to availability.
