SUNDERLAND’S football heros became “pop” stars today to put this season’s FA Cup triumph on record.
Players left Roker Park to record “Sunderland All Of The Way” at a Manchester studio in buoyant mood after another win last night.
And their air of optimism is reflected in the song whose chorus begins:
“Sunderland will be in the First Division, Scoring goals in every game they play....”
This season’s road to Wembley is described thus: “We can fight Man City, Luton, Arsenal too; When we get to Wembley we’ll show them a trick or two.”
Some of the players are pictured above rehearsing with youngster providing the chorus and local comedian Bobby Knoxall.
Left to right are Ian Porterfield, Billy Hughes, Jimmy Montgomery, Dick Malone, Richie Pitt, Mick Horswill, Songwriter Mike Blake at the organ, and youngsters Stephen and Karina Allison, James and Fiona Bute and Bobby Knoxall.
