Our fortnight of festive photos continues today with the focus on fun in the 1970s.

“One shot which really sums up Christmas is the Joplings sale of 1975, with dozens of shoppers fighting for bargains,” said photo archivist Susan Swinney.

“But Wearsiders were also keen to share the Christmas spirit, as our photos of the kind-hearted telephone girls and parcels being delivered to Trafalgar Square show.”
