FOODIES will be in for a tasty treat at a celebration of the region’s top producers.
Seaham Hall is to host the weekend-long Great North Feastival in June, promising a line up of celebrity and Michelin-starred chefs.
In addition to demonstrations and stalls selling locally-produced foods, the event will have crafts and live music.
Bernard Bloodworth, the hotel’s executive general manager, said: “I just thought what a great thing to do to highlight all these producers, as far north as Berwick, over to Alston and down to Guisborough – it’s going to be fab.”
Stall holders are being invited to apply for their place, with website www.greatnorthfeastival.co.uk and Twitter account @GNFeastival launched to offer more details and updates.
Funds raised will go to the Blue Lamp Foundation, set up by Pc David Rathband to support members of the emergency services during times of hardship.
Staff chose it because they were gripped by Pc Rathband’s dedication to helping others after he was blinded in the attack.
Tickets for the festival, which will be held on June 4-5, will go on sale by the end of February.
