A MUM is almost half the woman she used to be after shedding seven stone.
Tired of struggling to do simple tasks such as painting her toenails, Vicki Todd decided to tackle her bulging waistline.
After having her children Sian, 14, and Corey, 12, the 34-year-old’s weight gradually crept up to 18st 11lb.
But today she weighs in at 11st 6lb after joining Slimming World and a gym.
“I gradually got bigger and bigger,” Vicki said.
“I tried diets and slimming groups before, but I’d lose a stone and then put it back on again.
“But I had a friend’s wedding coming up, and I thought now is the time to do something about it.”
As well as attending Slimming World at Glendale Social Club in Houghton, Vicki enrolled at the Wellness Centre in Hetton, and over the course of 14 months she has gone from a dress size 22-24 to 12-14.
Vicki, who works for Glam hairdressing in Bournmoor, said: “I think it worked this time because I could still eat things I liked.
“I just made healthier choices, like choosing lean meat and having chicken without the skin on.”
She added: “I look back on photos now, and I didn’t realise how big I was.
“Now I can do things like paint my toenails without struggling – things that people without a weight problem take for granted.
“I love shopping too. Before, I just used to buy things just because they fit; now, I can buy things because I like them.”
Vicki, who lives in Fence Houses with partner Gary, said: “One of the best things is that I can now do more with the kids.
“Before, I would say no when they asked to do things like swimming or going to a theme park, because of my weight. But now I say yes.
“I feel so much more confident now. Even doing a story in the paper would have been something I would never have done before, but I think if I can help inspire at least one person to lose weight, then it will be worth it.”
