THOUSANDS of people got into the spirit at a free festive event.
The Magic of Christmas, hosted by etc magazine – sister publication to the Echo – took place on Sunday at the Stadium of Light and has been hailed a success.
The place was buzzing as thousands of people browsed the stalls which offered traditional Christmas decorations, gorgeous gifts and tasty treats.
Children also got to feed reindeer as well as visit Santa.
As people arrived they were welcomed by Castle View School Choir, who added a festive feel to the day by singing carols, and entertained by people such as magician Chris Cross.
Anne Taylor, 57, from Downhill, said: “I have been reading about this event in etc and the Sunderland Echo and waiting for it to come round for weeks.
“It’s been great. I’ve bought gifts and had my eyebrows waxed and tinted by Refine Spa.”
Etc magazine hosts a number of free events each year.
The next will be a ladies’ night at the Roker Hotel, on December 4.
