SINGER and television star Kerry Katona proved a big hit with fans when she came to Sunderland.
The mum-of-four made a fleeting visit to the city for a book signing of her new autobiography, Still Standing, at WHSmith yesterday.
And, the bubbly reality TV star was given a warm welcome by scores of fans, some who had queued for more than three hours to get the chance to meet her.
They were rewarded by the star spending time chatting with them all, signing, putting messages on their books and posing for photographs.
Kerry said: “It is great to do the book signings, it is the best part of it.

“It is so nice to meet the fans and to see all the support they give me.”
The 32-year-old said it was lovely to visit Sunderland and the North East and said she had been treated like royalty.
She said: “I have some friends who live in the North East who I met while on holiday, so I was up here at Hallowe’en as well.”
Among those who queued to meet their idol were Michaela Bethwaite, 29, from Ford Estate and her 10-year-old daughter, Lauren Hinshaw.

Michaela said: “We got here at 9am so we could be at the front of the queue.
“I started following Kerry when she was in Atomic Kitten and I just think she is fantastic. I have read her first book, which was great, so I’m looking forward to reading this one.”
She said Lauren, a pupil at Barnes Junior School, was so excited about meeting Kerry, she was awake three times in the night.
Controversial Kerry’s new book touches on the darkest moments of her life over the past six years, including addictions, bankruptcy, armed robbery and divorce.
