Washington-born goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was back on home turf to sign autographs and pose for photos at the Galleries shopping centre where he was joined by Tunisian international midfielder Wahbi Khazri.

Former St Robert of Newminster pupil Jordan said: “It was unreal, to see that many fans come out and see us was amazing and I have to thank them for all their support, it really was overwhelming.”

The pair were also on hand to sign Christmas presents for the hundreds of people who came along to the signing.

Their appearance was the first in a series of festive SAFC autograph events.

The next session will take place on Thursday at 3.30pm at the Stadium of Light club store.

Supporters will be able to celebrate Jermain Defoe surpassing 150 goals in the Premier League when he puts pen to paper for the signing where he will be joined by defender Papy Djilobodji.

The signings are proving popular and people are being advised to arrive early to make sure they meet the players.
