A TOP selection of fruit, vegetables and plants is now on offer from Swiss family firm Lubera via its new website, www.lubera.com.

Founded by Burkhard Gasenzer in 1889, the cultivation of fruit trees has been maintained on the family farm for more than three generations.

In the last 10 years, Lubera has bred and introduced more than 80 new varieties from the middle of the Swiss Alps – their plants are very weather resistant.

The pick of the website crop includes two early apples, Paradis Julka and Paradis Katka, ripening July/August.

Julka is Gala-sweet, Katka fresher. Both have a shelf life of 3-5 weeks - good for very early varieties and have polygenetic tolerance to scab and fireblight. They’re very compact and can be grown in a pot.

Prices range from £21.90 for a one-year tree in a 10l pot to £43.40 for a two-year semi-standard in a 10l pot.

There’s also excellent raspberries, ideal for planting out from July-September – and there’s free delivery for the next month. All come in 12cm pots, are well rooted and cost £4.40 each.

My choice is Primeberry Autumn Best; Frambeasy Autumn Amber (apricot-coloured) and Black Jewel - looks like a blackberry but tastes like a raspberry.
