A FASHION show raised more than £1,000 for two local charities.

The fifth annual show organised on behalf of the Mayor of Durham’s Appeal was held in the town mall in Market Place.

It featured clothing for women, men and children supplied by Bhs in the Prince Bishop’s Centre and fashion retailer CC Viyella in Silver Street.

Katusha Hair and Beauty in Claypath did the models’ hair and make-up.

“It was a very successful evening,” said this year’s mayor, Coun Les Thomson.

He added: “I’m grateful to the local businesses for their support and to everyone who supported the evening by turning up.”

The money will be split between St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Merryoaks, Durham City, and the County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted.
