EMMERDALE ladies’ man Carl King will be stepping into the shoes of the dastardly Captain Hook in Sunderland this Christmas.

Actor Tom Lister has been announced in the line-up for this year’s panto at Sunderland Empire – the first at the venue for three years.

Joining him in the swashbuckling cast will be children’s TV favourite Katy Ashworth in the lead role of Peter Pan.

It’s a return to tradition for the Empire, which for the past two Christmases chose to ditch panto in favour of musicals White Christmas and Legally Blonde.

The show will run from December 13 to January 6.

Tom, 34, studied at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama and has gone on to appear in many hit TV productions including Heartbeat, Doctors and The Bill.

Katy is best known for presenting I Can Cook, on CBeebies. She has taken the lead in several pantomimes and toured nationwide with her live one-woman slapstick comedy road show for three to seven-year-olds.

l Tickets for the panto, priced £10 to £25, are available now from 0844 871 3022.
