A SEARCH has been launched to find medical staff who have gone that bit further to help recovery.

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is inviting patients to nominate a member of staff who has gone the extra mile and made them “feel better” as part of an annual awards scheme.

The trust holds an annual staff awards ceremony to highlight good practice, excellent service and quality care.

This year, it would like patients, visitors or carers to get involved.

Stephen Eames, chief executive of the trust, said: “Coming to hospital, or receiving care in your own home or one of our community bases, can be a difficult time.

“So we’d like to know who among our staff has made you feel better about your treatment.

“It may have been one of our hospital staff, or staff who have helped you at home or in the community.

“It may have been one of our support staff – a cheerful porter or a helpful receptionist perhaps.”

The person who nominates the winner of the award will be invited to the ceremony, which will be held next month.

People can submit their nominations for the award through the Trust’s website.

Visit www.cddft.nhs.uk, and search under the section for latest news.

Nominations must be made before Friday, September 23.
