SUNDERLAND Minster will be alive with the sound of music when Durham Cathedral Choir take to the spotlight.
On Friday, James Lancelot will conduct the choir, with Francsca Massey at the organ, when they perform a special Jubilee Evensong for the audience.
Canon David Kennedy, precentor of Durham Cathedral, and the Reverend Martin Anderson, Minster priest, will lead the service.
Rev Anderson said: “It is a privilege for Sunderland Minster to welcome the worldfamous Cathedral Choir to our city for a feast of Diamond Jubilee music.
“In this 350th year of the Book of Common Prayer, we look forward to celebrating a service of choral evensong led by James Lancelot, the highly acclaimed organist and head of music of Durham Cathedral.”
Rev Anderson added: “The service is open to all, at the beginning of a weekend in which the Bishopwearmouth Choral Society and Sunderland Minster Choir will also perform, at 7.30pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday.”
Durham Cathedral Choir will perform at 7.30pm on Friday.

A collection will be made towards the recently completed Minster Bell Tower Appeal.
