RADIO DJs are being put through their paces as they prepare to dance in front of thousands of people.
Stuart Elmore and Kelly Hinch, who host Metro Radio’s Home Run show each evening, will perform at the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour next month.
The pair are being taught routines at Washington Dance Academy.
They will then compete against each other in front of the watching audience before being judged by TV favourites Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.
Stuart will be performing the tango, with Kelly putting on a waltz.
Susan Pluse, who runs the academy at Harraton Community Centre, in Fatfield, said: “They’ve done four lessons now and they are doing fantastically.
“Neither of them have done dancing like this before, but they’ve both taken to it like ducks to water.
“They are finding some of the steps difficult, but they are practising a lot and getting better.
“They are both a little nervous, but Kelly more so. I’m sure they’ll be fine when they perform though.
“I think they are more concerned about tripping up than anything else.”
The pair are getting the best possible tuition as they count down the days to their dance.
Former British dancing champions Lee Dudman and Beverley Crudas-Ginks are partnering Kelly and Stuart on the big night.
“They should be able to get them up to speed before they go before the judges,” added Susan.
Other performers at the event will include actress Chelsee Healey, Jason Donovan, EastEnders legend Anita Dobson, ex-Olympic swimmer Mark Foster, former footballer Robbie Savage and Nancy Dell’Olio.
Stuart and Kelly will perform at the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour at the Metro Radio Arena, in Newcastle, on Tuesday, February 7.
