That was the week that was

Where on earth did that week go? I think I must be a Magician. "And now the Great Stephano will make a week disappear."

I suppose if you are involved in the financial world you'd probably want it to disappear.

What a weird strange place when on Monday night there were people out quaffing Champagne because of the success of selling on their shares of the Banks who's impending doom they had banked on. Is it just me, or do you find them a little depraved? I really am never going to be rich as I wouldn't be able to live with myself after banking vast amounts of money whilst people's livelihoods are going down the pan. I hope they place their money somewhere which will subsequently go down.

Right - rant over!!!

Wasn't it brilliant that amongst all the gloom and doom we finally saw some real sun this week. I did laugh at a friend of mine who has moved to Greece and after their 40c temperatures last week they had bucketing rain.

Apologies to you if you've just come back from there and got wet. Which brings me back to more doom and gloom which happened over the last 7 days. Flight companies going bust. Having said that, I can think of no better excuse than to phone my boss on a Monday morning and say sorry I'm stuck in wherever. And you can stay where the sun shines whereas the boss is where the sun don't shine. If you get my meaning.

Coming back to my original I think the reason it seemed like a short week was because of our trip to London for our company Radio awards. I went down (or do you say up?) on Tuesday to watch the football – 4-0 on Champions League night, not bad. But made even better as I spotted that a 4-0 prediction had odds of 12/1 and I had a fiver on a bit of that. My trip was 26 for the train 25 for my football ticket 7 for my underground ticket 3 for a cheeseburger and 3.50 a pint before the game so I made a profit of 50p – fantastic!

So, then on Wednesday it was off to our awards day and what a venue. As a lad my Newbottle born Dad took us to live at 14 Grosvenor Road East Grinstead in Sussex. So to arrive at the World renowned Grosvenor House Hotel in London's prestigious Park Lane- that's one of the expensive ones on a Monopoly board- was pretty special. We had a modern group named The Falling to start off the event and someone called Anastacia closing the day. We don't play them on Magic and it'll be interesting to hear what Dave Lee Travis, who I sat next to during the lunch, has to say about proceedings on his shows this weekend on Magic 1152.

Before that I'll be having another Headline game and I think "The Management" have resorted to some dirty tricks – I am writing this at 9.45pm Thursday night and I would usually have been given the story for consideration at approx 4pm – as yet – nowt! Watch this space
