Steve Colman: King of the airwaves on the Queen of the desert
Everyone I have spoken to is loving the short week this week.
Well, even though it's not a short week for me it seems like I've got two Fridays which I suppose I have really.
I am on the air Good Friday, but feel that it is a double dose.
I hope there are a few of you left to listen to the show and read this as I have heard a lot are away with the airport talking of record numbers travelling away.
Lucky lot.
But hey, if it's anywhere where they use the Euro or Dollar it's going to cost! So I'm glad you are here to save yourself some money.
A busy week which started last weekend at my best friend Steve's wife's 50th birthday.
They hired a house and we stopped Friday and Saturday night there.
There was a vineyard down the road and bearing in mind this was just inside the M25 it was a strange scenario walking through the vines.
Now we always complain about the price of things, but talking to the lady who knew, their best crop had reaped 2000 bottles. Bearing in mind they sold the bottle for 10 pounds that's a small return when you consider the amount of work they have to put in each year. No wonder they charged us 3.95 for a pot of tea for two!
Al Murray was on the show this week ahead of his appearance at The Metro Radio Arena on Thursday. He's a funny guy but you wonder how he can carry on with his character the Pub Landlord. So many places closing down because of the Smoking ban and general demise due to the recession. Maybe he is to become The Pub Landlord, the only one.
Also Tony Sheldon and Jason Donovan were talking to me this week. Tony is a huge star in Australia and if the producers of their new show have anything to do with it, he'll be known by a lot of us too.
Priscilla, Queen of the desert was a hugely successful film which you may have seen all about some Ozzie entertainers who take their show on the road across the Outback of Australia.
It is a road and music movie with a lot of feel good factor. It was seen as a good story to put on the stage and with outrageous costumes and amazing staging including an illuminating Sydney Harbour Bridge it was a massive hit Down Under.
Jason told me he has about 20 costume changes in various dresses and features n singalong soundtrack including "Don't leave me this way", "Girls just wanna have fun" and "I am what I am".
It's just got to be a huge hit, hasn't it? If you are in London at all The Palace Theatre Shaftesbury Avenue is the location. It just had to be there with all the Queens in the show.
A big week of football in the Champions League. Even those who are not regular football watchers would have been drawn to the screens with the top quality games on.
I hope you agree the Liverpool v Chelsea game was an awesome display and great advert for our Premiership.
And of course the Manchester United v Porto game developed into something else after Porto had fashioned a class goal after a short five minutes. No doubt you will be hoping that with a 2-2 draw to attempt to turn round in Portugal Sir Alex Ferguson may field a reduced side for the Sunderland game.
Is there such a thing as a weakened Manchester United side when Sir Alex has 17-year-old geniuses like the boy who came on and scored the winner on his debut against Aston villa last week?
Be afraid, be very afraid.
