Steve Colman: I'm Twittering on...
I'm sitting/lying on my bed typing this up as I have some guys in laying some flooring for me.
It's dusty and sometimes noisy as they are using a power saw to cut up wood and I wish I had arranged for this to happen on Tuesday when I wasn't at home until 5.30pm.
I bet ya they will finish on the stroke of 5.29pm. But, hey, it gives me something to tell you. It all started off when I was on my way home from Sunderland Empire a few weeks ago after my photo with Mickey Mouse.
Now you may have heard of this but a quick word of explanation. Twitter is something you do online. It is a messageboard type of thing where you have 140 characters to write a message. That includes the gaps and punctuation so it isn't very much really.
Anyway, there are quite a few famous names using it and posting little post it notes I suppose you could call them. Sir Richard Branson uses it as a marketing tool. Mentioning things that his company are doing and things like the fact that he is flying to Hong Kong and then onto Australia doing a big promotion. But I like the fact that you and I can just put something up which may be amusing.
One of my listeneres Rob runs Saville Street Cafe in North Shields and he put a funny note up which went as follows – We had a member of the clergy in this morning I've always wanted to say "More tea Vicar". See simple and fun. It might sound like something daft to spend your time doing, but you can get hooked and when you get daft things like that, it gives you a few smiles along the way.
If you are not into sport then you can stop reading now... I'll see you next week. We were talking on the radio about England's Six Nations chances. They really need to sort out a few things if they want to do better and Martin Johnson must try and find the secret to not giving away so many penalties and I suggested that perhaps they should play at Old Trafford. Not only would no penalties given, but winning scores would always happen in the final few minutes! Just a thought!
By the way, they haven't finished the floor yet.
