Steve Colman: 'I heard there was some nudity...'

How are things with you? Cold?

I must say we have to say well done to our footballers, who are probably feeling things more than us in terms of their jobs. Imagine being stuck outside for most of your working life – yeah it's great in the summer, but this Winter more than most has been pretty rotten to be out there. I suppose 500,000 a week might help, but obviously it wasn't enough for Kaka...

Elsewhere in football Joey Barton and Jose Enrique had a bit of a spat on the pitch last Saturday and Charles N'Zogbia and Andy Carroll had a moment on the training ground this we it seems Newcastle's players really are following the lead of their manager!

Oh dahlings, what a theatrical week for me and it's set to continue!

I went to see Oliver! in London last Saturday. Boy it's good. Fast moving, brilliant sets, great costumes, stars performing superbly and Rowan Atkinson is amazing. From his first word – "What?" to the last moments, he's hilarious. We have to wait until the last five minutes of the first act for Jodie's appearance, but then she is on stage for almost all the second act and is great. The perfect person to win that place and someone I'll come on to talk about soon, Samantha, would have had to acted her socks off to achieve a credible Nancy. Brilliant, go and see if you can. I paid 37.50 for an Upper circle seat. And you can get to meet the cast.

Locally, on Tuesday I was at The Theatre Royal in Newcastle to see Blood Brothers for what is probably my 4th, if not 5th, time. Maureen Nolan stars and is someone we really like and identify with in the role. If you've not seen the show, again I can't recommend it more highly. The fact that it's playing for two weeks shows how popular it's going to be. I was amazed initially to read in the programme that there have been Japanese and Korean versions of this, but it's a heartfelt family story and I thought subsequently - yeah it goes across all boundaries. Be ready to jump out of your skin and shed a few tears. Yes, that includes you Sir...

You may have heard Wayne Sleep and Samantha Barks on the show on Thursday. They star in Cabaret at the Sunderland Empire all week. In true style Wayne has been receiving some physio leading up to this week but the show'll go on in the time-honoured fashion. I'd heard that there was some nudity in the show and asked whether it involved Samantha or Wayne, sadly Samantha jumped in straight away with "It's not me!" – shame!

One I'm looking forward to next week takes me back to my early doors on the radio. After all the Bay City Roller mania, lead singer Les McKeowan set off on a solo career and he became one of the first interviews I did 30 years ago! He's bringing his band to do a local gig on Friday 6th February and I can't wait to Shang a lang, Give a little love and have a Summerlove sensation - Bye bye baby. Till next time
